This beautiful story of a dog and her pet parent will move you

Telangana, 25 May 2017: Nothing can be truly compared with unconditional love of an animal. And this is certainly true in case of a Telangana woman. When Manchala Swati married and left for her in-laws’ house, little did she know, her three-year-old German shepherd named Ruby would slip into depression.

Swati, daughter of Manchala Venkatesham, a pulses trader in Janagoan town of Telangana, married a man from another town, which is situated 80 km away from her parents’ place. After Swati’s departure, Ruby slipped into depression and gave up food. Swati was missing Ruby as well, but managed to come to terms with the reality.

For five days after the wedding, the pet remained silent, dull and aloof for five days, till Swati rushed back to parents place to feed and groom it.

Ruby could not cope with the absence of his best pal, Swati. "When Ruby was behaving strange we tried everything possible to feed him and make him normal. We even took Ruby to a doctor suspecting illness due to heat. But, nothing worked on him."

The family then decided to call Swati home to see Ruby. When Swati arrived teary-eyed, the pet finally ate something. Swati’s father Manchala Venkatesham, said, "I had heard many times the attachment of pets to their parents. But, when I saw it with my own eyes, I could not believe myself."

What surprised Swati’s family and relatives, was Ruby’s gesture of going straight to Swati’s husband Santosh when he was sitting in a gathering of 20 plus people. "Ruby went straight to him and stayed there for 10 minutes. We all understood it as his plea to take care of Swati well", said an emotional Venkatesham.

Though it was her brother Sandeep who brought Ruby home as a month-old pup, it was Swati who took care of her all these years. "I moved to Delhi for studies three months later. Ever since I left, my sister (Swati) took care of Ruby", said Sandeep, who is currently preparing for civil services.

Ruby had a habit of being around Swati. The 26-year-old would give food to the dog between 8.30-9am, 1.30-2pm and 8-8.30pm every day.

Swati will take care of Ruby till Sunday. The family is worried how to manage from Monday. "I will not send Ruby under anybody’s care. We are trying to get close to him, when Swati is here". Swati’s husband assured the family that she would be visiting them for a couple of days every week for the next six months.
