Doha: Konkani Drama ’Nathu’ Enthrals Doha Audience

Doha Qatar, 24 May 2017: Konkani Speaking Community (KSC) of the Holy Rosary Church, Doha organized Konkani Drama “NATHU” on Friday May 19 at the Arabia Hall here.

 

The evening programme began with the introduction to the evening by comperes Perina Pereira which was followed by the prayer song and a short welcome address by Fr Anand Castelino, the spiritual director of the Doha Konkani Speaking Community.

 

The opening chorus was sung by the Dubai based Trio of Anthony and Manuxin written by Edwin D’costa, who entertained the crowd with their latest political songs and earned applause of their performance.

 

After the Superhit of Jr. Roseferns 1st Konkani Drama “POSKO” Jr. Roseferns 2nd Konkani Drama “NATHU” had the audience members in fits of laughter at our Lady of Rosary Church premises on May 19th 2017. The drama had all the ingredients of super hit: romance, tragedy, and rib-tickling comedy blended into a balanced performance.

 

 

This was the second time Jr. Roseferns stepped into a Konkani drama, after having acted and directed may one-act plays in the past.

 

Kuwait-based trio Mario, Cajetan and Michael followed, rocking the show with their songs, based on Goans in Qatar and in Gulf in general.

 

Comedians Agostinho and Selvy, who travelled from Goa to Doha, ensured that the audience kept laughing.

 

The local talent featured in the program included Luis Carvalho, Vincy Da Costa, Amresh Kamat, Armando Gomes, David Carneiro, Antonio Joao Vaz, Laura N Gonsalves, Carol Gonsalves, Anushka Amresh Kamat, Shaun Rodrigues and first runner-up in the Gulf Voice of Mangalore season 5 (GVOM – 5) Carol Avinash D’Souza and Clement Fernandes.

 

Music was provided by Kuwait-based Maestro Shahu - Dubai-based Drummer Victor and Bass guitar Angelo Qatar.

 

Mr. Amresh Kamat who entertained the crowd with superb mimicry and earned applause of his performance.

 

A short stage programme was held. Which was presided over by The Spiritual Director of Konkani Speaking Community Fr Anand Castelino of the Holy Rosary Church Doha. Vivian D’Souza, the president of Konkani Speaking Committee delivered the keynote address. All the drama Artistes and musicians were presented with mementos on the occasion. and Mr. Maurice Pereira also present on the stage. Jr. Roseferns, director of the drama appealed to the Konkani audience to keep “The language alive for our future generations, as language, music and sports bring the community together.

 

Bertha Rodrigues proposed the vote of thanks. The event was compared by Perina Pereira, with her unique style keeping the typical Goan Tradition and culture alive.
