Mangaluru: Eminent personalities to grace academic discussion on Literature & Movies at NIFF

Mangaluru, 27 Apr 2017: As part of the final day of Nitte International Film Festival which is being held at Bharath Cinemas here, ‘Kaasav’, renowned Marathi film directed by Sumitra Bhave and Sunil Sukthankar will be re screened at 4:45pm on Thursday, April 27.
The screening will be followed by an academic discussion on the topic, ‘Image, Imagination and Reality: Exploring Link between Literature and Cinema.’ The discussion will be graced by eminent Marathi director Sunil Sukhtankar, film critic Manu Chakravarthi and renowned writer Vaidehi.
The four-day International Film Festival organised by Nitte University from April 24 to April 27 at Bharath Cinemas, Bharath Mall here is receiving a positive response from cine viewers.
The Nitte International Film Festival (NIFF) which was inaugurated on Monday, April 24 by the National award winning Marathi Director Sunil Sukhtankar and Dr M Shantharam Shetty, Pro-Chancellor of Nitte University so far has screened films which has received national and international recognition.
Films like Unto the Dusk (Malayalam), The Violin Player (Bengali), Visaranai (Tamil), Amdavad ma Famous (Gujurati), Haal-e-Kangal and Masaan, Island City (Hindi), Quissa (Punjabi) and Kannada films including Zero Made in India, Kendasampige, Harikatha Prasanga and Harivu, Reservation, Amaraavati, Railway Children, Madipu and Suddha (Tulu), Ventilator and Lathe Joshi (Marathi) were screened. It also saw the screening of international films such as Soegija (Indonesia) and Red Butter Fly (Sri Lanka), Sanctuary and 24-Weeks.
Various national award winning directors and producers including P N Ramachandra, Bijaya Jena, Manu Chakravarthy, Anand Varadaraj, Sajin Babu, Giridev Hassan, Mikhil Musule, Mangesh Joshi, Chethan Mundadi, Mansore, Prthivi Konanur and actor Shrunga, Prathik Gandhi were present at the venue and interacted with audience.
In all, a total of 55 films from five different countries and many national award-winning films from Indian languages including Ammatipaadam, Kaliyachan, Angamaly Diaries (Malayalam), Raman Raghav 2.0, Ugly (Hindi), Destiny (international films) - all free of cost will be screened in the upcoming days.
