1,000 volunteers partake in 13th Cleanliness drive of Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan

Mangaluru, 24 Oct 2016: Third week of 13 cleanliness drives of the 400 Abhiyans being organized by Ramakrishna Mission, here took off on Sunday, October 23 at 13 different venues in city. About 1,000 volunteers took active part in these drives.

 

Karangalpady – In the presence of Sri Vasudev M R, President of Subrahmanya Sadana the 20th drive was flagged in front of Subrahmanya Sadana by Swami Chidambarananda of Ramakrishna Math and Sri Prakash Salian, Corporator, MCC. The surroundings of Jal Road, Subrahamnya Sadana were thoroughly cleaned. Sri Srikanth Rao, Sri Manish Rao, Sri Ranganath Kini and several others actively participated in the drive.

 

 

Kavoor – 21st cleanliness drive was conducted in front of BGS school in Kavoor under the leadership of Sri Sudhakar Kavoor. Swami Ekagamyanandaji of Ramakrishna Math & Sri Madhukiran, MCC, Corporator jointly flagged off the drive. Both sides of the road were cleaned. The volunteers also renovated and repainted the neglected bus shelter. They have also repainted a direction board.

 


St. Agnes College – The students of Sahyadri Engineering College cleaned all the three sides of St Agnes College circle. Sri J R Lobo, MLA flagged off the drive. Prof. Umashankar & Prof. Sheshappa Amin guided the students in the drive. Smt. Srilatha, AOO of Sahyadri College & Sri Prakash Garodi led the team of students in cleaning the area.

 

 

Mangala Nagar – The members of “Sharada Mahila Vrinda” cleaned the Mangala Nagar area and the surroundings of Ramakrishna Math. Swami Dyutimayanandaji & Br Nishchay of Ramakrishna Math guided the volunteers. Smt. Sathyavathi coordinated the drive.

 

 

Derebail – The members of Bhagyajyothi Seva Samithi & Derebail citizens took up the cleanliness drive in the Derebail area. Sri Pradeep Kumar Kalkur, President of Kannada Sahitya Parishat flagged off the drive along with Sri Seetharam. About 80 volunteers actively participated in the drive. Sri Jagadeesh Shetty, Sri Lakshman Devadiga, Sri Raghav Konchady and others participated in the drive.

 

 

Yeyyadi – Team led by Shubhoday Alva under the banner ‘Friends Forever’ carried out the cleanliness drive in Airport Road, Yeyyadi area for 2 hours from 7.30am. Ashok Kumar Hegde and Devadas Alva jointly flagged off the drive.

 


Thokkottu – Members of Paramjyothi Manava Seva Smaithi, devotes of Umamaheshwari temple and members of Veera Maruti Gym carried out the cleanliness drive in Thokkottu area for 2 hours. Swami Dharmavratananda of Ramakrishna mutt flagged off the drive. Manohar Prabhu co-ordinated in the drive.

 

 

Konaje – Swacch Mangalagangotri was carried out in the Mangalore University premises by hundreds of zealous students for 2 hours. Captain Ganesh Karnik and Harish Achar jointly flagged off the drive.

 

 

Land Links Township – The members of Matridhama Seva Samaithi carried out Swacch Land Links for Swacch Mangaluru. Corporator Rajesh and Krishnarajaiah jointly flagged the drive at 7.30am. Vedavathi, Vidya Shenoy, Shambhavi of Matri Dhama along with several other zealous volunteers cleaned the area in Land Links. K V Sathyanara co-ordinated in the drive.

 

 

Deralakatte – In association with Justice K S Hegde Medical Academy (KSHEMA) the cleanliness drive was carried on in Deralakatte area. Dr N Vinay Hegde, chancellor, Nite university flagged off the drive. Captain Ganesh Karnik was the chief guest. Dr Satish Bhandary, Satish Rao and others took an active art in the drive. About 200 medical and paramedical students of the institute participated in the drive.

 

 

Car Street – The devotees of Gokarna Mutt, Car street under the leadership of Naresh Kini carried out the cleanliness drive in the car street area using JCB, tipper etc. The construction debris lying in the area for several months was thoroughly cleaned during the drive. Basti Venkatesh Shenoy and several others participated in the drive.

 

 

Kolya – The devotees of Sri Kshetra Kolya and friends and well-wishers carried out Swacch Kolya for 2 hours. Swami Dharmaratananda flagged off the drive. Hundreds of devotees volunteered in cleaning the Kolya area off the plastic garbage lying in the area and the highway.

 

 

Merlapadavu – the students of Srinivas Institute of Technology, 7 villagers of Merlapadavu near Valachil carried out the cleanliness drive for 2 hours. Professor Mahesh K B guided the volunteers in the cleanliness drive. 

 

About 1,000 volunteers carried out the Swacchata Abhiyan in about 13 areas of Mangaluru city on Sunday, October 23 for nearly 2 hours under the aegis of Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru. 

 

Nitte Education Trust and MRPL are patronizing this 3rd phase of Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan.
