Udupi: Students of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School observe Gandhi Jayanti

Udupi/M’Belle, 2 Oct 2017: Students of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School, Moodubelle observed Gandhi Jayanti on Monday 2 October 2017 by conducting prayer service and cleanliness drive along with the students of Church Aided Higher primary School. 

 

The prayer service was conducted by  the students of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School. This was followed by a brief stage programme preside over by Naveen Correa-Principal of St. Lawrence PU College. Mrs. Leena D’Silva-Headmistress of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High school and Students Leaders-Akash and Joyce Fernandes were on the dais.

Akash narrated briefly the life, teachings and activities of Mahatma Gandhi during the freedom struggle. Mrs. Leena D’Silva and Principal Naveen Correa highlighted the achievements of Mahatma Gandhi.

 

After the stage programme, students undertook the cleanliness drive in line with the ‘Swach Bharat’ programme promoted and encouraged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They went in groups through the roads of Moodubelle and picked up plastic and other waste lying by the side of roads and collected the waste in plastic bags.
