Mangaluru: DYFI stages sit-in to shut down illegal skill-game dens in city

Mangaluru, 17 Jan 2017: The district unit of DYFI staged sit-in in front of Deputy Commissioner’s office, here on Monday, January 16, to protest against illegal skill game joints operating in city.

 

Addressing the protesters, DYFI district president and corporator Dayanand Shetty alleged that the skill games joints are operating in spite of the opposition from general public. The joints that are operating without municipal trade license in connivance of city police force. The activists of Congress and BJP including henchmen of city MLAs are running skill games joints and game dens. It’s irony that the mafia that is protected by political bigwigs driving the poor to the streets, alleged Shetty.

 

DYFI district vice president B K Imtiyaz cautioned the police that they would stage sit-in in front of the police stations to take their struggle to another level in this regard.

 

 

DYFI district general secretary Santosh Bajal said that the flesh trade is going on unabated in lodgings situated in heart of city in connivance of city police. The people who lodge complaint in this regard with sub-inspectors are harassed by the mafia. He urged the city police commissioner Chandrashekar to restore public trust on police force by shutting down illegal skill game dens in city.

 

DYFI district president Nitin Kuttar and CIYU leader Santosh Shaktinagar also addressed the gathering.

 

DYFI leaders Sadiq Kannur, Naveen Konchady, Rafiq Harekala, Manoj Vamanjoor, Srinat Kulal, Noushad Bengre, Pramila Shaktinagar, Asha Boloor, Mayuri Bolar, Tasrif Moodbidri and others led the protest.

 

The protesters presented a memorandum to city police commissioner Chandrashekar on the occasion.
