Katapadi: 447th Camp initiated for giving-up alcoholism

Katpadi, 11 October 2011: The dream of Mahathma Gandhiji to make the country free of intoxicating drugs is becoming true by these camps for giving-up alcoholism, said Udupi Jilla Panchayath President Katapadi Shankara Poojary. He was speaking upon inaugurating the 447th camp for giving up alcoholism at Katapadi S.V.S. Pre University College, on Sunday.
The camp was jointly organized by Udupi Tluk Shri Kshethra Darmastala Gramabhivradhi Yojane, Kaup Zone Alcohol giving-up coordination committee, Kaup zone Janajagrathi Vedike and various other organizations. Speaking further Katapadi Shankara Poojary said that, these camps which is being organized in coordination with Shri Kshethra Darmastala Gramabhivradhi Yojane, are being conducted successfully and also the people have been expressing their supporting to this, he said.
In the inaugural program Camp Committee President K. Sathyendra Pai presided over and in his presidential address he said that efforts are being done to inspire to include as many alcoholic youths as possible in the camp which is being held in Katapadi.
Udupi Jilla Shri Kshethra Darmastala Gramabhivradhi Yojane Director Keshava Gowda, Kote Grama Panchayath President Dayananda V. Bangera, Katapadi Grama Panchayath President Suguna, Committee Hon. President Narayana bhat, Hon. Advisor Dr. A. Ravindranath Shetty were present in the program.
Committee Secretary Vidyalatha welcomed the guests and the gathering. Camp Officer Raghavendra Acharya gave introductory speech. Camp In charge Prashanth T. Compeered the program. Social worker Vasanthi proposed vote of thanks.
Udupi: Voluntary Blood Donation Camp
Udupi, 11 October 2011: Voluntary blood donation camp was held in Udupi Government Hospital. This blood donation camp was jointly organized by Udupi Matha Amrathanandamayi Seva Samithi and Udupi District Hospital Blood Bank Centre.
The voluntary blood donation camp was held on the occasion of the birthday celebration of Amrathanandamayi.
