Hassan: Residents of Sakleshpur � Ballupete lay Road Blockade against Unscientific NH Works

Hassan, 16 May 2013: The residents of Sakleshpur – Ballupete led by Ballugopal staged a massive protest against the unscientific national highway works, by burning the tires on the road, here on Tuesday May 14.

The protesters alleged that highway works were deviated from the original plan in order to save the properties of politicians and influential people while laying national highway between Bangalore – Mangalore.

 

 
The protesters alerted national highway authorities that the unscientific road works will cause series of accidents and cautioned them not to cause injustice to poor peasants with a little landholdings while laying the bypass road, cautioned the protesters.

The local MLA H K Kumaraswamy who arrived at the spot, offered them assurances that justice will be made to the poor peasants in consultation with Deputy Commissioner.

The traffic was disrupted for a few hours, with long queues formed on either side.
