Senior Congress leader, former MLA of Belthangady Vasanth Bangera no more

Belthangady, 08 May 2024: Senior Congress leader and former MLA of Belthangady K Vasanth Bangera passed away at a private hospital in Bengaluru on May 8, Tuesday. He was 79 and was ailing since some time.

 

 

Bangera was a five time MLA from Belthangady and had contested from BJP, JD(S) and Congress. He had also served as Chief Whip of State Assembly. He was first elected as MLA on a BJP ticket in 1983. Later he joined the Janata Dal under the leadership of the then CM Ramakrishna Hegde. 

 

In 1989 he contested on a Janata Dal ticket but lost. In 2008 and 2013 he won from Belthangady on a Congress ticket but lost the 2018 election to Harish Poonja of the BJP.

 

He was an immensely popular politician in Belthangady and had a large number of supporters.
