Mohali, 11 March 2011: Kieron Pollard launched a typically brutal late assault to send West Indies to 275 all out against Ireland after the West Indies was asked to bat first in their World Cup match on Friday.

Pollard smashed five sixes in his 94 off 55 balls and Devon Smith recorded his first career century as West Indies made a late charge after Irish captain William Porterfield decided to send them in.

Kevin O’Brien took career-best bowling figures of 4-71 to slow West Indies after Smith’s 107 had inspired a solid start from the Caribbean team, which was without injured opening batsman Chris Gayle.

Pollard then powered to his best ODI score, sharing an 88-run partnership with Smith on the way, to set Ireland a challenging total in the Group B match.
