MMMC Photography Club and Manipal Hemophilia Society organise ‘Click for a Cause’

Manipal, 19 Feb 2013: Melaka Manipal Medical College (MMMC) Photography Club along with Manipal Hemophilia Society conducted a photo exhibition-cum-sale on February 16, 2013 and the proceeds of Rs 58,000 were donated to the Society for the welfare of patients with haemophilia.
The amount was handed over to Dr H Vinod Bhat, Pro Vice Chancellor of Manipal University and Chairperson of Manipal Hemophilia Society at a formal function.
A total of 770 entries were received for the first contest, ‘Click for a Cause’, organized by MMMC Photography Club from January 2 to 23, 2013. The entries were judged by Mr Eswarayya, a retired photographer of Udayavani, Mr Gurudutt Kamath, a freelance photographer and Mr M.J.Thomas an accomplished lens man. The photographs were judged on the basis of composition, aesthetics, technicality and originality.
The Photography Club was established in November 2012 as a part of MMMC Student Council with an aim to enhance photography skills of budding photographers by conducting workshops and photography excursions. The club presently has 86 members from various MU institutions. Encouraged by the overwhelming response, MMMC Photography Club plans to conduct various photography related events in future.
Three winners, seven consolation prizes and twenty special mention photographs were exhibited near KMC Greens from 9 am. to 4 pm. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr Ullas Kamath, Dean of MMMC (Manipal Campus) and Dr Annamma Kurien, Associate Dean of MMMC (Manipal Campus). Dr Vinod Bhat gave away the prizes.
