Kuwait: ICS to present ‘Soul India Concert’ by legend Hariharan & Team on Oct 5

Kuwait, 02 Oct: Indian Cultural Society (ICS) to present ‘Soul India Concert’ with playback singer, music composer and an established Ghazal singer and one of the pioneers of Indian fusion music Padmashri Hariharan at Dr Rays Auditorium, American International School, Maidan Hawally, here, on Friday, October 5 at 7.00pm.

 

Hariharan has sung more than 500 Tamil songs and nearly 200 Hindi songs; he has also sung hundreds of songs in Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada, Marathi and Bengali languages. He has been associated with the illustrious A R Rahman since the early 90s. Hariharan is one of the foremost Indian Ghazal singers and Composers with more than thirty albums to his credit.

 

 

His magical voice has turned many songs into super hits which were enjoyed by one and all. Hariharan has also experimented with different kinds of music, giving his fans a taste of different genres of music as well as fusion music, ‘Tu Hi Re’ film Bombay, ‘Baahon Ki Darmiyan’ film Khamoshi, Chappa - Chappa Charkha Chale, ‘Roja Jaaneman’ from Roja, ‘Tu Paas Hai’ from Taal, ‘Chanda Re’ from Sapne, ‘Kabhi Mein Kahoon’ from Lamhe etc.

 

Hariharan has been one of the most trusted singers of Rahman and has sung many songs for him in long list of movies that includes Muthu, Mudhalvan Minsara Kanavu, Jeans, Indian, Taal, Rangeela, Indira, Iruvar, Anbe Aaruyire, Kangalal Kaithu Sei, Dasavathaaram, Sivaji, Alaipayuthey, Kannathil Muthamittal, Guru, Enthiran etc. 

 

In 1998, Hariharan won the national award for the best playback singer for the soulful rendition of the song. ‘Mere Dushman Mere Bhai’ from the Hindi movie, Border.

 

Hariharan got another National Award for the Marathi song, ‘Jiv Rangla’ from Jogwa, set to tune by Ajay Atul in 2009.

 

He started his career by singing for TV serials. He received first prize in All India Sur-Singaar Competition. Then he entered the Hindi film industry through the film Gamanin 1978. His first song was Ajeeb Saane He Mujh Par Qarar. This was a big hit and won him Uttar Pradesh State Film Award and was nominated for National Award.

 

The stage is set for Combo of music in all form Jazz, Ghazal, fusion, filmy and non-filmy songs, albums, classical and semi classical with legend of Indian cinema and music Hariharan.
