Feb, 23, 2014 : It could have all gone awry, but for the bridegroom who stood firm to marry his lady even though she had delivered a baby on the morning of the scheduled marriage. That’s Man Singh of Dindori for you who refused to buckle under family pressure to not marry Rani, the bride.

For about a year, Man and Rani (name changed) have been dating each other since the marriage was fixed by their families. It all looked like a perfect match and a love story which was taking amazing hues day by day. However, as their intimacy grew, Rani conceived. Man says even though he was aware of the development, Rani’s family had no clue as the couple readied themselves to tie the knot.

On Wednesday last, however, the story got the twist with Rani delivering a child, ahead of the wedding. When this news reached Bichchiya village where the wedding was to be held, all hell broke loose.

The invitees and villagers decided to boycott the ceremony and Singh’s family members urged the young man to not marry Rani. As they upped the ante, Singh appeared determined and decided to go ahead with the marriage. Seeing him undeterred, the opposing voices died down and Singh married Rani the next day when the priest found her to be fit enough to undergo the rituals.

On the day of the wedding, as guests poured in at the venue, the mood turned festive as it should have. It was a joyous occasion for all. They all sang, danced and had a jolly good time as Singh and Rani took the seven steps-phere-vowing to stand by each other for the rest of their lives.

Video footage of the event shows that as the guests enjoyed themselves, Singh and Rani played with their one-day old baby who, unsurprisingly, remained unaware of the wonderful beginning in this beautiful world.

I am sure this couple will live "until death do us part". Congratulations to the parents who also are the newly wedded couple. God bless you - the brave hearts.
